OLAM – The Outcry
Love is the force that animates this universe and gives everything its purpose and meaning. The answer to anything and everything. While it’s complicated to understand 'love' in the present culture which celebrates selfishness, two perfect traits makes it simple. Placing the wellbeing of the ‘other’ before ours and sacrifice. This is the reason we worship Heroes, this is the reason we celebrate Mothers. Swami Vivekananda once said ‘Every manifestation of power in the universe is "Mother"’.
The systemic attack on womanhood and motherhood began in India in 1940’s when proponents of Eugenic policies and Population Control saw that the best way to destroy India is to attack its family. And what holds family together than the ideal woman? "The ideal womanhood of India is motherhood— that marvelous, unselfish, all suffering, ever-forgiving mother." – Swami Vivekananda. And Motherhood need not necessarily mean only biological. It's in fact more spiritual than Biological. In haste the tragic decision was made in India on August 10th 1971- a legal approval for a mother to kill her own child. Medical Termination of Pregnancy Act 1971 was passed. India opened up the doors to the massacre of innocents, the exploitation of womanhood and extinction of Motherhood.
The Abortion Act which was renamed as Medical Termination of Pregnancy Act 1971 to handle opposition from people made it legal to end the life the child up to 20 weeks. The law was passed not as a result of Women's Rights movement but for Eugenics reasons and to curb the population of India. The road to development and prosperity was decided to be built upon the blood of the innocent pre born Indians.
The Medical Termination of Pregnancy Act ( MTP Act) has been the reason to the brutal death of 4-6 million/ 40-60 lakh pre born Indians every year. All of a sudden love becomes conditional. Mother Teresa said "That special power of loving that belongs to a woman is seen most clearly when she becomes a mother.” When this special power to love fades slowly, womanhood decays naturally. Indian women lost themselves in the delusional feminist movement wishing to become like men not realizing that their distinctive vocation in Womanhood.
Following the notorious One Child Policy of China India rather stealthily introduces its Family Planning Program with compensations, rewards and punishments. following China and Japan India takes dramatic efforts to control population through Abortion. Men were rewarded for vasectomies, Women sterilized without consent in secret sterilization camps, families encouraged to use abortion as a contraception, and in some states even Government jobs were denied if the applicant has more than 2 children. The infamous ‘inverted triangle’ is introduced to make believe families that more children means poverty and less children means prosperity.
According to Professor Jha of Global Health Research center 12 million girls were aborted in just 3 decades. Abortion is used by those who can afford ultrasound technology to detect the gender of their offspring and get rid of the baby using the loopholes of MTP Act. It’s well known fact that India ranks next to China in the highest number of sex selective abortions performed in the country. According to Population Research Institute 20 milion girls were selectively aborted between 2000 and 2014. Yet, Sex Selective Abortions in India is one thing Indian feminists do not want to talk about.
Abortion for the sake of family welfare and national welfare has transcended to Abortion on Demand. The MTP Act of 1971 and its amendment which allows abortion in case of rape, threat to the life and health of the mother, in case of disability of the child and poverty has been taken to the ultimatum.
When we opened the doors to use Abortion as a population control method and a contraceptive slowly followed Abortions for convenience. Teen Pregnancy due to sexual promiscuity started to sweep the nation while we’re still fighting maternal mortality rates due to child marriage and illiteracy. According to one study abortion among girls under the age of 15 in Mumbai has risen by 144 percent over the period of 2014-2016. In 2013, doctors in Gurgaon said that there was almost a 50 percent rise in teen pregnancies over the past 4 to 5 years. The new epidemic of teen pregnancy and abortions procured as contraceptive is a worrying trend in our country.
When Marriage is broken, commitment is lost all that is left is one or the other individual exploited. Ultimately the most exploited is the child who will be killed by Abortion in order to hide or escape the situation. Abortion always leads to more Abortion and more exploitation.
The Gates of Hell widened with Abortion leading to the attitude of using sex as sport and experiment without taking responsibility for the outcome. The outcome is one chaotic society who neither understand the glorious power of sex nor the reason behind the vocation of marriage.
For whatever reason, either in the case of Procured Abortion or in the case of Forced Abortion, Abortion has always exploited women. The exploitation is both physical, psychological and spiritual. Women who undergo Abortion are said to suffer from Post-Abortion Stress Syndrome which is similar to PTSD. The symptoms include guilt, anxiety, suicidal thoughts, Depression, low self esteem etc. not including the physical complications like cervical damage, puncture, infection, fever, miscarriage, infertility and sometimes even death. These women need real help and healing. Women deserve better than Abortion.
